KB18049: A user still receives scheduled reports associated with a group after being removed from the group in MicroStrategy Intelligence Server 9.x -10.x

This article explains a possible issue that can be caused because of server object caches held in memory by the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server

SYMPTOM
After a user has been removed from a User Group, the user still receives scheduled reports associated with that group in Strategy 9.x - 10.x

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

Follow the steps below to reproduce this issue:

  1. Create a user group with privileges assigned to a project and add a user to this group.
  2. Create an event-triggered schedule.
  3. From the Strategy Desktop 8.x toolbar, select Administration > Scheduling > Schedule Multiple Reports.
  4. In the System-wide Reports Scheduler console, select the user group created in step 1 and assign a report to the group. Close the console.
  5. Trigger the even based schedule.
  6. Log in as the user belonging to this group and the report will be there in the user's History List folder. Delete the report from the History List folder.
  7. Log in as administrator and dis-associate the user from the group.
  8. Trigger the event based schedule.
  9. Log in as the user and even though the user is no longer associated with the group, the scheduled report is present in the user's History List folder.

CAUSE
The relationship between the User and the User Group still exists in the Strategy Intelligence Server memory (Server object cache).

ACTION
Perform one of the following to purge the Server object caches:

  • In Strategy Developer 9.4.x - 10.x, select the Administration menu > Server and then click on the Purge Server object cache option.
  • Restart the Strategy Intelligence Server .
