Each prompt must be part of a filter before it can be included in a MicroStrategy Developer 10.x report. The following two options can be used in defining each prompt as part of a filter.

Each prompt must be part of a filter before it can be included in a Strategy Developer 10.x report. The following two options can be used in defining each prompt as part of a filter.
 
Option 1:

  • Create a prompt using the Prompt Editor. Select 'Qualify on a Metric' in the Prompt Editor as shown below:

  • Select the metric 'Revenue', as shown below:

  • Save and close the prompt.
  • Create a report with attribute Region in it and drag the prompt created above into the report filter field, as shown below:

  • Execute the report. The user will be prompted. As an example, make the following prompt answer selection:

  • When the report completes execution, the data displayed reflects the prompt selections made by the user, as shown below:

Option 2

  • The prompt can be added to a filter and the filter then added to a report.
  • Create a filter using the Filter Editor. There are two options to add the prompt to the filter:

    • By dragging the prompt into the filter definition pane in the filter, as shown below:
    • By double-clicking in the Filter Definition section and selecting 'Add an Advanced qualification' as shown below:
  • Click on the OK button and in the Advanced Qualification Editor, drag and drop the prompt in the 'Custom expression' window and check for validation, as shown below:

  • Click on the OK button and save and close the prompt.
  • Add the filter to a report, as shown below:

  • When the report is executed, the user will be prompted as shown below:
ka02R000000kXtnQAE_0EM440000002EsS.gif
