How to view the current data source name (DSN) used for the warehouse connection by a specific project in MicroStrategy Developer 9.4.1 and 10.x

To find out the current DSN used by a project for the warehouse connection, follow the steps below:
 

  • In Strategy Developer 9.4.1 and 10.x, right click on the project of interested and select 'Project Configuration' from the menu, as shown below:

  • Once the window for 'Project Configuration' opens, expand the 'Database instances' menu and go to the `Relational` section to see the database instance(s) currently in use for the project. Make a note of the database instance listed under the 'Warehouse database instance' section, as shown below:

  • Exit the 'Project Configuration' window and go to the 'Administration' section. Open the 'Database Instance Manager', as shown below:

  • On the right pane, locate the database instance identified earlier. Right click and choose to edit the database instance, a new window will pop up. Under the 'General' tab, click on 'Modify' on the 'Database connection' section, another window will pop up. Scroll through the 'Local ODBC data sources' section on the newly opened window. The DSN that is checked is currently used by the database instance and thus the project, as shown below:
