KB18347: Document Job Steps sequence is incorrectly presented when analyzed with MicroStrategy Enterprise Manager 9.x

Community Admin

• Strategy

SYMPTOM:
In order to analyze details of a document job execution, users could create the following report in the Strategy Enterprise Manager 9.x project:

ka04W000000OeW8QAK_0EM440000002BKt.jpeg

The Document Job Step Sequence is incorrect. Looking at the column Document Job Step Sequence, it appears that the DOCUMENT EXECUTION (Document Job Step Type 13) and DOCUMENT DATA PREPARATION (Document Job Step Type 18) take place before retrieving the data/waiting for the child reports to come back from caches or database (Document Job Step Type 28 DOCUMENT DATASET EXECUTION). However, Document Job Step Type 18 is the job step during which the results of the individual report are combined and at this point the individual datasets have already been obtained. Therefore, having another Document Job Step afterwards which stands for the WAITING FOR CHILD REPORTS is incorrect.

This is a known issue with Strategy Enterprise Manager 9.x.
