KB18401: Is it possible to upgrade all the projects in the metadata in a bulk fashion instead of on a one-by-one project basis in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x and 10.x?

SYMPTOM:
The user notices that either via Strategy Developer 9.x and 10.x or via Strategy MDUpdateUtil.exe 9.x and 10.x tool, there is no option to upgrade all the projects in the metadata in a bulk fashion, it can only be performed on a one-by-one project basis.
 
CAUSE:
Currently it is not possible to upgrade all the projects in the metadata in a bulk fashion either via Strategy Developer 9.x and 10.x or via the Strategy MDUpdateUtil.exe 9.x and 10.x tool; it can only be performed manually on a one-by-one project basis.
 
ACTION:
An enhancement request has been logged with the Strategy Technology department for support of this functionality. Contact Strategy Technical Support for an update on the latest status of this enhancement.
 
WORKAROUND:
Follow the steps below in Strategy Command Manager 9.x and 10.x to work around this issue:
 

• The user can take advantage of the 'Update_Project_Outline' outline that manually triggers the execution of a Strategy project upgrade, as shown below:
  

• The user can then create a script file (text file) that includes an entry for this outline for as many projects as required to upgrade within the Strategy Metadata. The script file in turn can be used to execute Strategy Command Manager 8.x through a command line interface, henceforth simulating the bulk upgrade.
