SYMPTOM:
When trying to start the Strategy Intelligence Server 9.x on Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, the following error is observed and the Strategy Intelligence Server fails to start:
$ ./mstrctl -s IntelligenceServer start
MSTRExec Error: main() caught MBase::BaseException.
Failed to dynamically load library '/home/user/MicroStrategy/install/lib/libMSTRSvr2.so'. (Server message 305419896) libssl.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory (UNIX Dynamic Linking message -1)
Users may also observe a similar error when using some of the Strategy utilities such as the Strategy Connectivity Wizard etc.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /opt/Strategy812/lib/libmadbjni.so.8.1.525.151: libcrypto.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
CAUSE:
The likely cause for this issue is that the libssl.so.4 library is missing from the Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server machine. The Strategy libraries use an SSL enabled version of the 'libcurl' libraries and so these dependent libraries are required for the Intelligence Server 9.x to start.
ACTION:
To resolve this issue for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, install the missing libraries, libssl.so.4 and libcrypto.so.4 on the machine. The library should be part of the following package:
openssl097a-0.9.7a-9.x86_64.rpm
For SUSE Linux machines, the readme specifies the appropriate steps to take:
1. Install the required RPM: compat-openssl097g-xxxx.x86_64.rpm, where xxxx is the version number. (openssl-0.9.7d-15.10.x86_64.rpm for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9)
2. Use the following commands to manually create the two required links:
* ln -s /usr/lib64/libssl.so.0.9.7 /usr/lib64/libssl.so.4
* ln -s /usr/lib64/libcrypto.so.0.9.7 /usr/lib64/libcrypto.so.4
