This Knowledge Base article describes an issue that occurs when defining personalization preferences in MicroStrategy Narrowcast Server 9.x Administrator

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.x Administrator, when attempting to define a personalization preference using the 'Subscription Preference' or 'Default User Preference' options, the following error occurs:

ka04W000000OdCtQAK_0EM440000002BJZ.jpeg

CAUSE:
One cause for this issue is that the definition of the prompt, report, or Report Services document was modified in the metadata. If any of the objects have been modified in the metadata after the creation of the service, it is possible that the definition of the subscription preference ID for the associated information object has reached an inconsistent state. When this happens, the Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.x Administrator console reaches an unexpected behavior and returns this error.
ACTION:
In order to choose preference answers for the information objects which are returning this error, follow the steps below:

  • Edit the service using the Service Wizard.
  • Navigate to the contents section and edit the information object for which the error is occuring.
  • Without modifying the definition of the information object, click 'OK' to save the information object. This will update the object repository with the latest definition of the Prompt/Report/Report Services document present in the metadata, resolving the preference inconsistency, as shown below:

  • Continue to the subscription set and the console will not return the error on attempting to set the preference.
