KB18693: Data appear to be missing from bar graphs when the values are relatively small in MicroStrategy Developer

SYMPTOM:
Bar graphs do not display data properly when values are relatively small under certain circumstances in Strategy Developer, as shown below:
 

 
The expected behavior is to display small bar graphs, as shown below:
 

 
This issue appears when the space available for the graph is reduced. This can be accomplished by:

• Adding a page-By field
• Changing the font value to a bigger size
• Displaying the layout on the bottom of the graph

The relationship between the Y-scale and the value of the bar graph does not have the same effect as reducing the space of the graph and the values are still shown, as shown below:
 

 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Follow the steps below to reproduce this issue:
 

• Create a metric with a constant value of .02, as shown below:
  

• Create a metric with a constant value of 14, as shown below:
  

• Create a report with an attribute in the page by, an attribute in the template, and the constant metrics created, as shown below:
  

• Execute in Graph Mode and edit the graph layout so that the legend appears at the bottom of the graph, as shown below:
  

CAUSE:
This is a known issue with Strategy Developer.
 
ACTION:
Change the graph options to a setting that shows the bar graphs, as shown below::
 

• Show depth, as shown below:
  

• Keep the layout on the right or left.
• Change the font size of the x-axis legends to a smaller value, as shown below:
