KB18742: Some services do not finish to execute and appear to hang or remain in the distribution manager and execution engines in MicroStrategy Narrowcast Server

SYMPTOM:
When a user runs a service in Strategy Narrowcast Server, the user notices that the service does not finish executing and it appears to hang or remain within the distribution manager and execution engines when observed through the administrator console in Strategy Narrowcast Server.
 
Also, when this issue is encountered, the following entries can be seen in the delivery engine (DE) logs after the first user set is formatted:

CAUSE:
One possible cause for this issue is the use of a custom information transmission module (ITM) within Strategy Narrowcast Server.
 
ACTION:
As a test, the user can setup the service with the "hanging" behavior to be transmitted using one of the out of the box information transmission modules (ITM) that come with Strategy Narrowcast Server. If using the out the box information transmission module (ITM) successfully delivers the service execution, then the user should contact the development team that created the custom information transmission module (ITM) to continue troubleshooting.
