KB18828: After the name of a template object is changed, the shortcut to template name in a report does not reflect the change in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x and 10.x

KB18828: After the name of a template object is changed, the shortcut to template name in a report does not reflect the change in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x and 10.x

SYMPTOM:
When the name of the template object changes, any reports that are using that template as a 'shortcut to template' should normally reflect the name change of the template object in Strategy Developer 9.x and 10.x.

When OLAP services functionality is used in a report, the changed name of the template object that is used as a shortcut in a report will not be updated accordingly.

In the picture below, a derived metric is created in the report which will utilize OLAP services.

Once this happens, any changes to the template object used in the report will not be reflected in the report. Instead the 'shortcut to template' name will display the template's previous name, as illustrated below:

CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy Developer 9.x and 10.x.

ACTION:
Contact Strategy Technical Support for the latest status of this issue.

WORKAROUND:
In order to update the name of the template, the template object must be re-added to the report as a shortcut.

NOTE: Any changes using OLAP services functionality, such as derived metrics, will be lost.
