'An error occurred during authentication…LDAP components...are not LDAP v3 compliant' error occurs when configuring LDAP connectivity with SSL using Sun ONE Directory SDK for MicroStrategy Intelligence Server on Solaris 10

SYMPTOM:
When any user, including the Strategy 'Administrator' user, tries to connect to using the Sun ONE Directory SDK for Strategy Intelligence Server on Solaris 10 for LDAP with Secure Socket Layer (SSL), the following error occurs:

"An error occurred during authentication. Please contact your administrator: the required LDAP components could not be found or are not LDAP v3 compliant."
CAUSE:
One of the causes for this issue is that the 'libldap.so' file is missing from the front of the list of 'LDAP connectivity file names' in the Strategy Intelligence Server Universal 8.x configuration settings.

Note: This file needs to be placed at the front of the list in order for the LDAP Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connectivity to function properly and so that all the additional required libraries can be loaded accordingly.

ACTION:
Follow the steps below to resolve this issue:

  • Make sure that the 'libldap.so' file is at the front of the list of 'LDAP connectivity file names' in the Strategy Intelligence Server configuration settings, as shown below:

  • Once the above action is taken, click on 'OK' for the changes to be applied.
  • Disconnect and reconnect to the 3-Tier project source.
  • Upon clicking on the 'Test connection' button for the 'Configuration' LDAP settings, a successfull connection to Strategy Intelligence Server using LDAP with Secure Socket Layer (SSL) will be established.
