When obtaining cache and history list (inbox) files for troubleshooting purposes in the Strategy Intelligence Server 9.4.x and later, users should make sure to take into account the following guidelines:
- Users should obtain a database backup or dump of the metadata to be restored along with the cache and/or history list (inbox) files.
Note: The user should not obtain a project duplicate as this process changes the project's global unique identifier (GUID) and version. While the project's GUID and version are NOT used as a cache key for the process of matching cache files on Strategy Intelligence Server, other components of the Intelligence Server may refer to this GUID within the cache file. If these identifiers are changed (because of a project duplication ), the cache and history list (inbox) files may not be usable for troubleshooting.
- Users should not set an expiration date for the cache files for the project in question (i.e. set the Project Configuration to 'Never expire caches'). If this is not feasible, then the user should set the cache expiry time to a reasonable timeframe so that the cache files are valid for a period of time that will allow sufficient troubleshooting.
- Users need only obtain a copy of the cache files ('cache{cache_ID}.che') and cache information files ('cache{cache_ID}_Info.che') for the relevant report (s) in question. It is not necessary to obtain a copy of all the cache files and cache information files within the cache folder for the project on the Strategy Intelligence Server.
In addition to these files, a copy of all the index (*.idx) files located in the project cache folder are required in order to set up a troubleshooting environment.
