KB19354: How to connect to a MicroStrategy Narrowcast Server repository using Windows NT credentials in MicroStrategy Command Manager 10.x

To use NT credentials to log into a MicroStrategy Narrowcast Server repository in MicroStrategy Command Manager 8.x, it is necessary to modify the DSN pointing to the repository.

To use NT credentials to log into a Strategy Narrowcast Server repository in Strategy Command Manager 10.x, it is necessary to modify the DSN pointing to the repository. Follow these steps to achieve this:
 

  • Open the ODBC Data Source Administrator and go to the System DSN tab, as shown below:

  • Edit the SQL Server connection for the Strategy Narrowcast Server repository and in the Microsoft SQL Server DSN Configuration window, select 'With Windows NT authentication using the network login ID' as shown below:

  • Finish editing the DSN and save the changes.
  • Open Strategy Command Manager 10.x and select to connect to the Strategy Narrowcast Server repository, as shown below:

  • In the NCS Authentication Dialog window, select the Strategy Narrowcast Server repository. The login ID and password are still prompted and an ID will need to be entered, however the input is not used for validation, as shown below:
