KB19444: How to create packages in a collection other than NULLID for the MicroStrategy ODBC Driver for DB2 Wire Protocol

Community Admin

• Strategy

Refer to the following Knowledge Base technical notes for details regarding package creation and binding for the Strategy ODBC Driver for DB2 Wire Protocol:

  • KB19382 - Information regarding package creation and binding for the Strategy ODBC Driver for DB2 Wire Protocol
  • KB19385 - How to perform package creation and binding manually for the Strategy ODBC Driver for DB2 Wire Protocol

By default, the packages are created in the NULLID collection. The user may choose to create the packages in a different collection. This may be done using the procedure described in KB19385 except by changing the 'Package Collection' field in the DSN to the desired collection. The following screenshot shows package creation in an example collection called UDBADM using the DB2 Wire Protocol driver on Windows:

Upon clicking the 'Modify Bindings' button, the packages would be successfully created in the UDBADM collection.

For the DB2 Wire Protocol driver on Unix (Linux, AIX, Solaris, HP-UX), again the procedure described in KB19385 can be followed. Except the following entry should be present in the DSN in the odbc.ini file, to create packages in the collection UDBADM:

PackageCollection=UDBADM
As indicated before, once the packages are created, any user should be able to access them and seamlessly connect to the database server. The only thing is that the 'Package Collection' field in the DSN (PackageCollection value in the odbc.ini on Unix platforms) should be set to UDBADM, so that the ODBC driver knows where to find the packages. Otherwise, the driver will attempt to look for those packages in NULLID.
