KB19627: Customizing the servlet context by completely removing the servlet path throws an error when exporting to Microsoft Excel in MicroStrategy Web 8.1.x

SYMPTOM:
Removing the servlet path as specified in MSDL document located at https://resource.microstrategy.com/MSDZ/MSDL/812/docs/Customizing_the_Servlet_Context.htm throws the following error when exporting a report or document to Microsoft Excel.

ACTION:
Follow the steps below to resolve this issue:
 

1. Open the styleCatalog.xml file.
2. Find all the styles that use 'ReportSavePropertiesTransform', for example:
   <Style description="Style: Display HTML that saves PDF properties on the report" name="ReportGridStylePDFSaveReportProperties" transform="ReportSavePropertiesTransform">
   <ActualParameters>
   <ActualParameter name="allowCloseWindow" type="4" value="true"/>
   <ActualParameter name="cssFile" type="1" value="Report.css"/>
   <ActualParameter name="eventToForwardTo" type="2" value="3014"/>
   </ActualParameters>
   </Style>
   
3. Add the 'useURLRedirect' parameter and set it to false, as shown below:
   <Style description="Style: Display HTML that saves PDF properties on the report" name="ReportGridStylePDFSaveReportProperties" transform="ReportSavePropertiesTransform">
   <ActualParameters>
   <ActualParameter name="allowCloseWindow" type="4" value="true"/>
   <ActualParameter name="cssFile" type="1" value="Report.css"/>
   <ActualParameter name="eventToForwardTo" type="2" value="3014"/>
   <ActualParameter name="useURLRedirect" type="4" value="false"/>
   </ActualParameters>
   </Style>
   
4. The user should find and modify all styles that use the ReportSavePropertiesTransform.
    
   Note: The steps above are specific to reports. To apply the same logic for Report Services documents, search the styleCatalog.xml file for the style that uses the 'RWSavePropertiesTransform' transform, add the 'useURLRedirect' parameter, and set its value to false.
    
   
5. Restart the Web server.
