SYMPTOM:
In some instances, an installation of Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.x does not successfully install the DataDirect SequeLink ODBC Socket Server component. This component is essential for the Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.x Subscription Portal functionality to work.
If the Strategy 9.x installation is modified via the Add/Remove Programs window in Control Panel, 'SequeLink ODBC Socket Server' is listed and checked as having been installed.

CAUSE:
One possible cause for this to occur is that a previous installation of Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.x was not uninstalled properly. If this occurred it is possible that relevant registry keys and directories were left on the system. One of common directories is the DataDirect folder under '<drive>\Program Files'.
When reinstalling Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.x, the installer detects the existence of these folders and registry keys left behind making it believe that the DataDirect SequeLink component is already installed on the machine.
ACTION:
To resolve this issue, resulting in the successfully installation of the DataDirect SequeLink component, a full removal of Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.x will need to be performed.
After Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.x has been removed, the system needs to be checked as per the following Strategy Knowledge Base technical note, to ensure that all traces of the DataDirect SequeLink component have been removed.
KB17152 (KB6200-8X-1847) - How to manually uninstall the DataDirect SequeLink services shipped with Strategy Narrowcast Server 8.x when the regular Uninstall tool fails to remove them completely from the machine
Once Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.x has been uninstalled and the system cleaned of any leftover references to DataDirect SequeLink, the Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.x can be reinstalled. This time it will install the DataDirect SequeLink component successfully.
