SYMPTOM:
When creating the Strategy Narrowcast Subscription Portal 9.0.x using the System Configuration Wizard the following error occurs:

CAUSE:
The Strategy Subscription Portal 9.0.x uses DataDirect SequeLink to connect to the Strategy Narrowcast Server 8.x system repositories. One possible cause for this error is that the Log On account set for the SLAgent55 and/or SLSocket55 services does not pass the database-side user authentication test.

A combination of the following two factors can cause this error:

  • The Data Source Name (DSN) used to connect to the Strategy Narrowcast Server 8.x repositories is setup to use NT Authentication:

  • The Log On account used to start the SLAgent55 and/or SLSocket55 services is either the Local System account or a Windows NT account that does not have access to the repositories:

ACTION:
There are two options to resolve this issue:

  1. Change the Log On account of the SLAgent55 and SLSocket55 services to be the same account that is used by the DSN to connect to the Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.0.x system repositories.
  2. Change the authentication mode of the DSN to use a login ID and password entered by the user.
