This tech note provides instructions on how to display data in descending order by the metric that is chosen from the Selector when a Report Services Document is displayed through Web.
 
ACTION:

  • Create a report named Customer Profit and Revenue Report with Customer attribute on the row and Profit & Revenue metrics on the column as shown below:

  • Create a Report Services Document named Customer Profit and Revenue Document using the above report as a dataset. In the Detail Header section, add a panel stack by clicking Insert 'Panel Stack. Inside 'Panel1', add a grid by clicking Insert 'Grid. In this grid, pull Customer attribute to the rows and Profit metric to the column as shown below:

  • Double click this grid, and then go to Data ' Advanced Sorting. In the Sorting window, under the Detail section, click Add. A new line will be added. In this new line, choose Profit under Sort By and Descending under Order. Click OK.

  • Select the panel stack, right click and click Properties. In the Properties window, go to Panels tab and click Add. Rename this panel as Revenue and Panel1 as Profit. Select Revenue and click Set as Current.

  • In the Revenue panel, add a grid by clicking Insert 'Grid. In this grid, pull Customer attribute to the rows and Revenue metric to the column. Double click this grid, and then go to Data ' Advanced Sorting. In the Sorting window, under the Detail section, click Add. A new line will be added. In this new line, choose Revenue under Sort By and Descending under Order. Click OK.
  • Select the Detail Header section, go to Insert ' Selector ' Radio Buttons and put it as the desired place in the Detail Header section. Select this Radio Buttons selector, right click and click Properties. In the Properties window, go to Selector tab and choose Select Panel in Action Type, choose Horizontal under Orientation and PanelStack1 under Panel stack as shown in the below image.

    Click OK and Save and Close this document.
     
  • Open this document in Strategy Web, click on Interactive Mode icon and select Profit from the Radio Button Selector. See that "Bris Westgate with $8,450" is the first record and the data is in descending order sorted by Profit. Now, select Revenue from the Radio Button Selector. The first record is now "Elaina Mattingley with $45,973" and the data is in descending order sorted by Revenue.
