How to enable the verbose installation trace for MicroStrategy Universal 9.x running on UNIX/Linux operating systems

In certain cases the out of the box install.log may not be able to provide enough information to troubleshoot installation issues encountered when installing Strategy products on UNIX/Linux operating systems. By enabling the verbose trace for the Strategy Installation process, an additional log called MSTRInstaller.log is created with more in-depth debug messages.

In order to enable the Strategy installation verbose trace, implement the steps below:

1) Open a terminal and navigate through the installation files to find the "setup.sh" script. The default location is under: "Installations/QueryReportingAnalysis_Linux/"

2) Run the setup script using the parameter "-debug" as follows:


./setup.sh -debug

3) The "MSTRInstaller.log" will be generated under the home folder of the user installing Strategy. An example of contents in this file can be seen below:
