A prompt using dynamic dates browses outdated cached elements in MicroStrategy Intelligence Server.

SYMPTOM:
A prompt, using dynamic dates, browses outdated cached elements in Strategy Intelligence Server 9.x and 10.x. When using a dynamic date filter to limit a prompt, the set of elements displayed in the prompt browser is expected to change on a daily basis:

(Day (ID) Between and )
Using the dynamic date settings from above, if today's date is 1/23/2009, the correct range of dates is 1/23/2006 - 1/28/2006. However, at execution time, the existing element caches will be used even if the set of elements does not match the date range returned by the filter:

CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy Intelligence Server 9.x and 10.x.

ACTION:
Strategy will continue to investigate and post updates as soon as they are available.

WORKAROUND:
Purge the element caches on a daily basis. This process can be automated in either of the following ways:

  • Use a Strategy Command Manager 8.x script that purges element caches for each project on a daily basis.

  • Create a scheduled administrative task to purge the element caches using Strategy Desktop 8.x.
