KB204446: The Prompt details section still shows when the "&hiddensections" parameter is used in MicroStrategy Web

Community Admin

• Strategy

In MicroStrategy Web, users can create a URL API link to execute a MicroStrategy document. Within this link, a "hiddensection" parameter can be added to hide specific parts of the default display, such as the header, footer and path. For a prompted document, the Prompt Details section will display no matter what is added to the hiddensections parameter.

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Web 9.x, users can create a URL API link to execute a Strategy document. Within this link, a "hiddensection" parameter can be added to hide specific parts of the default display, such as the header, footer and path. For a prompted document, the Prompt Details section will display no matter what is added to the hiddensections parameter.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Create a prompted report and add it to a document in Strategy Web 9.x
  2. Create a URL API link to execute the document.
  3. At the end of the link, add the parameter:

    &hiddenSections=header,footer,path,dockTop

  4. Execute the link. Notice all of the top sections are hidden, except for Prompt Details.

CAUSE:
This is a current limitation in Strategy Web 9.x. There is not a parameter specific to hiding the Prompt Details section. A request has been logged to address this issue.
ACTION:
Contact Strategy Technical Support for an update regarding this issue.
WORKAROUND:
To workaround this issue and hide the Prompt Details section, follow the steps below:

  1. Execute the document directly from Strategy Web 9.x
  2. Manually close out of the Prompt Details section. This is now cached in the browser.
  3. Execute the original URL API link for the document. Notice the Prompt Details section no longer shows.
