How to Execute a Prompted Report Services Document and Automatically Use the Default Prompt Answers using the MicroStrategy Web 8.1.x URL API

Using the Strategy Web URL API, it is possible to execute a report services document and indicate that the default prompt answers be used automatically. To accomplish this, use the following parameters in the URL:

http://SERVERNAME:8080/812/servlet/mstrWeb?
Server=SERVER-NAME
&Project=Strategy+Tutorial
&Port=0
&evt=2048001
&src=mstrWeb.2048001
&visualizationMode=0
&documentID=45657F1F46F73190547360B2AD28C57D
&useDefAns=true
The useDefAns parameter indicates whether or not the default answers should be used and is used specifically for Report Services Documents. The default answers can be specified at any level - at the prompt level, report level, or document level and this will work correctly.

In Strategy Web 9.0.x, the parameter is called 'promptAnswerMode' and applies to both Report Services Documents and Reports. For instructions on how to use this URL parameter in Strategy Web 9.0.x, navigate to the followng TN:
