SUMMARY:

It is described in this document an unexpected issue classified as a potential enhancement to be implemented on an upcoming Strategy version. This issue occurs in Narrowcast Server 9.4.1 running on the non-supported Operating System Windows Server 2012.

SYMPTOM:

On a fresh new installation of Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.4.1 in Windows Server 2012 R2, the following error is shown when launching the Narrowcast Administrator console:


MCDMProxy

System Error &H80004015 (-2147467243). The class is configured to 
run as a security id different from the caller.

Upon launching the Narrowcast Administrator console, the error message below appears:


An unexpected error was encountered while attempting to start the 
Distribution Manager.

Possible causes are 1) the target machine is unreachable, 2) you do not 
have enough permissions on the target machine to access the 
Distribution Manager Proxy, 3) the Strategy Logging Client is not 
running on the target machine, or 4) the password of the Distribution 
Manager service or the Distribution Manager Proxy identity account is 
incorrect or expired.

DCOM permissions were checked and configured properly as per KB15307: New feature in MicroStrategy Narrowcast Server 8.0.3: Start/stop system and services without Windows administrative privileges:

CAUSE:

Currently, Windows Server 2012 R2 is not a supported Operating System for Strategy Narrowcast with version 9.4.x to 10.2 . Additional information: KB45065: MicroStrategy Analytics 9.4.1 Product Suite Readmes and Release Notes

ACTION:

Windows 2012 R2 is supported from the Strategy 10.4 platform release and later. Additional information:
