KB20515: Exporting a list of all warehouse tables being used in a MicroStrategy Project to Microsoft Excel shows more tables in the file than listed in the Warehouse Catalog.

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

Exporting a list of all warehouse tables being used in a MicroStrategy Project to Microsoft Excel shows more tables in the file than listed in the Warehouse Catalog.

SYMPTOM:
Users can view which tables are currently being used in a particular project by opening the Schema menu in Strategy Developer and choosing 'Export Project Schema…"

For more information on how to export a list of all warehouse tables to Microsoft Excel, please view KB5700-8X-2408 - How to export list of all warehouse tables being used in a Strategy project to Microsoft Excel
However, when exporting a list of all warehouse tables being used in a Strategy project to Microsoft Excel, there are more tables listed in the Excel file than there are in the Warehouse Catalog.

CAUSE:
Custom logical tables appear in the exported file which states the tables being used in the project, but do not appear in the Warehouse Catalog, as they do not reside in the database but rather in Strategy.

ACTION:
This is working by design since the tables exist only in Strategy Developer.
