KB205816: XQuery results change based on Windows Region and Language settings in MicroStrategy 9.4.x.

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy 9.4.x, it is possible that XQuery will generate different results depending on the Windows Region and Language settings of the computer.
 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
 

1. In Strategy 9.4.1 tutorial environment, go to Control Panel -> Region and Language and choose Italian (Italy) format 
2. Launch XEG. Use a XML file as the source type.
3. Run the below XQuery code

let $string := 'ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ'

return 

<SimpleTest>{substring($string,10,5)}</SimpleTest>

4. The result should look something like this:
 

<SimpleTest>FGHIJ</SimpleTest>.

 
5. Choose English (UK) format and keep the default format settings, in which the Decimal Symbol is set to "." and the Digit Grouping Symbol is set to ",", running the XQuery will generate a different result:
 

<SimpleTest>JKLMN</SimpleTest>.

 
CAUSE:
This is a known issue with Strategy 9.4.x.
 
ACTION:
 
Currently this issue is being reviewed by Strategy for a potential code fix on an upcoming Strategy release.
