KB20616: Levels of Statistics logging in MicroStrategy Enterprise Manager 9.x

In Strategy Enterprise Manager 9.x, the levels of Statistics logging are divided into Basic and Advanced Logging (and not per statistics table) as shown below. The level of Statistics logging are still controlled from the Project Configuration editor under Statistics > General.
 

 
When the Basic Statistics option is checked, data is logged in the following statistics tables (when relevant actions such as report execution, document execution etc. take place):
 

• IS_SESSION_STATS (server session statistics)
• IS_PROJ_SESS_STATS (project session statistics)
• IS_REPORT_STATS (report execution statistics)
• IS_DOCUMENT_STATS (document execution statistics)
• IS_CACHE_HIT_STATS (report cache hit statistics)
• IS_REP_SEC_STATS (statistics on report jobs executed with security filter)
• IS_SCHEDULE_STATS (statistics on jobs executed from the scheduler)
• IS_CUBE_REP_STATS (statistics for actions performed on Intelligent Cubes; available in Strategy 9.2.1 and later)

Note: It is not possible for users to enable advanced logging without logging basic statistics.
 
Advanced Statistics logging is optional and it controls logging into the following Statistics tables:
 

1. IS_REP_STEP_STATS (Report Job Steps)
2. IS_DOC_STEP_STATS (Document Job Steps)
3. IS_REP_SQL_STATS (Report job execution SQL)
4. IS_REP_COL_STATS (Statistics on tables/columns accessed for report jobs)
5. IS_PR_ANS_STATS (New table introduced in Strategy 9.0 to log data about prompt answers chosen during report execution)
6. IS_MESSAGE_STATS (New table introduced in Strategy 9.0 to log data about deliveries scheduled through Distribution Services)
7. IS_INBOX_ACT_STATS (New table introduced in Strategy 9.0.1 to log data about Inbox messages)
8. CT_EXEC_STATS and CT_DEVICE_STATS (New table introduced in Strategy 9.3.1 to log information about mobile device executions. Refer to KB43532 for details)
