'You specified a file that exceeds the maximum size (100Kb) allowed by the Administrator.' error message is displayed when uploading a text file into a prompt in MicroStrategy Web 9.4.1 and above.

SYMPTOM
Users get an error when inserting a text file larger than 100Kb into a prompt in Strategy Web 9.x, as shown in the image below.

You specified a file that exceeds the maximum size (100Kb) allowed by the Administrator.

 

CAUSE
There is a preference limit that controls the size of the file that is being imported into a prompt and can be modified by the Administrator. By default it is set to 100Kb.
 
ACTION
Go into the Web Preferences > Project Defaults > Prompts > Maximum size of the files to upload and change the value from 100Kb. The highest value possible is 9999Kb.
