The article shows how to disable directory listings (folder browsing) in WebLogic 10 with MicroStrategy Web Universal 9.x

It may be required for security purposes for a user to disable directory listings (folder browsing) within the Strategy Web Universal 9.x application.

The following steps are provided for illustration purposes on how this can be achieved when Strategy Web Universal 9.x is hosted on application server WebLogic 10.x.

The user needs to locate the Web.xml and Weblogic.xml files located by default under:

<Strategy_HOME>\WEB-INF

  • The following entry needs to be made to the Web.xml file:

<init-param>
<param-name>listings</param-name>
<param-value>false</param-value>
</init-param>

  • The following entry needs to be made to the Weblogic.xml file:

<container-descriptor>
<index-directory-enabled>false</index-directory-enabled>
</container-descriptor>
After adding the above entries, the Strategy Web Universal 8.x application (WAR file) needs to be re-deployed for the changes to take effect.
