KB20831: 'Can`t reopen table' error message appears during report execution when the warehouse is stored in MySQL database

Community Admin

• Strategy

This article notes a workaround for a database side error with MySQL

SYMPTOM

When using MySQL database as the warehouse, when running report, the following error messages may appear:

QueryEngine encountered error: Execute Query failed. Error type: Odbc error. Odbc operation attempted: SQLExecDirect. Can`t reopen table: `xxx`
where 'xxx' is the name of temporary table created by previous SQL statement.

CAUSE

This issue has been observed in environments using the MySQL warehouse when handling temporary tables.

ACTION

If the database error cannot be resolved, it may be appropriate to consider an alternative Intermediate Table Type, For example, change Intermediate Table Type in VLDB properties to 'Derived table' as shown on an image below. This will allow Strategy Query Engine to use nested SELECT statements instead of creating temporary tables.
