KB213535: How to hide a section in a document based on a prompted value in MicroStrategy Analytics Developer 9.4.1?

SUMMARY:
This "How to" technical note describes a manipulation which enables to hide a section of a document in Strategy 9.4.1
Steps to perform: 
In some business scenario, it needs to hide a section in a document based on a prompted value. This tech note provides a workaround for this requirement.

• Atstartup, there is a report with Year and Revenue
   

• Add the report to the Detail Header section in a document;
• When trying to create a conditional formatting to hide the section, user can only input the threshold value which is a static value:

• To create a conditional formatting based on a prompted value, first create a value prompt and then drag it to a metric expression window as below:
  

• Add this metric into the report;
• Edit the document, RMC on the Detail Header section and choose Conditional Formatting -> Advanced;
• Create a threshold, choose “Select Metric…” as below;

• And then choose the newly created metric “prompted Revenue”;

• And check “Hide Section” in the Format page;
  

• Run the document and it is found that only when a value which is bigger than the biggest Revenue value through the three years is input, for example, 100,000,000, the section is not hidden. Otherwise, the section is hidden.
