KB214135: Interactive grid sorting does not work on the second metric in MicroStrategy Mobile

Community Admin

• Strategy

If a metric column is sorted and then the user taps to go to the next metric, any sorting that the user tries to apply to this new metric will not be applied.  This issue only occurs when MicroStrategy Mobile 9.4.1 iOS Update 4 app is used in conjunction with a MicroStrategy Intelligence Server operating on a version prior to 9.4.1.

SYMPTOM:
Users have the ability to use the Interactive Grid widget for Strategy Mobile 9.4.1 iOS Update 4.  If a user holds down on the metric header, they are given the chance to sort the metric column.  If a metric column is sorted and then the user taps to go to the next metric, any sorting that the user tries to apply to this new metric will not be applied.  This issue only occurs when Strategy Mobile 9.4.1 iOS Update 4 app is used in conjunction with a Strategy Intelligence Server operating on a version prior to 9.4.1.
Refer to the below screenshot to see a metric that indicates it is sorted in descending order, but the values are not sorted.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Create a document using a dataset with more than one metric.
  2. Create a grid on the document that has at least 1 attribute and at least 2 metrics.
  3. Enable the Interactive Grid widget for Strategy Mobile.
  4. Save the document and run it on a Strategy Mobile 9.4.1 iOS Update 4 device where the Strategy Mobile and Intelligence Server are both pre 9.4.1.
  5. Hold down on the metric header and sort descending.  Notice that the metric is successfully sorted.
  6. Tap to move to the next metric.  Hold down on the metric header and sort descending.  Notice that the metric sorting is not affected and remains the same.

CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy Mobile 9.4.1 iOS Update 4 with the interoperability of the 9.4.1 application and pre 9.4.1 servers.
ACTION:
This issue has been addressed in Strategy Mobile 9.5.1 . Upgrade to this version or later to take advantage of this fix.
WORKAROUND:
If possible, use the Strategy Mobile 9.4.1 iOS Update 4 app against 9.4.1 Strategy Mobile and Intelligence servers.

The Strategy Internal Reference Number for the issue discussed in this technical note is 976748.
