KB221204: New feature in MicroStrategy 10: Subscription Access Control Lists

Community Admin

• Strategy

Starting with Strategy 10, users can now enable/disable subscriptions on individual reports or documents through the introduction of Subscription Access Control Lists(ACLs). Permissions can be specified for specific groups and users.

Note: Subscription ACLs can only be configured in Strategy Web after the report has been executed. They cannot be configured in Editable mode.

Users can follow the example below in order to use this feature:

  • Execute the “Customer Summary” report, found in the Strategy Tutorial project in the following path:

Strategy Tutorial > Shared Reports > Subject Areas > Customer Analysis

  • Go to Tools -> Report Options(Document Options in the case of a document/dashboard)

  • Select “Only allow specific users to subscribe to this report”. This will open the “Who has access” section:

  • In the text field, users can type any group or user name. Alternatively, users can click Browse to search for a particular name. For this example, simply add the Administrator. Make sure access is granted by selecting “Granted” from the drop down and clicking “Add”.

  • Click Apply or OK for any changes to take effect. The Administrator user is now the only user who can subscribe to this report.
