KB221549: If the Intelligence Server is on a UNIX/Linux environment, how should users setup Enterprise Manager?

If the Intelligence Server is on a UNIX/Linux environment, how should users setup Enterprise Manager in MicroStrategy 9.x?

Enterprise Manager 9.x is only available for Windows Operating Systems.

If a user would like to have setup Strategy Enterprise Manager for the Intelligence Server on the Linux environment in Strategy 9.x, a Windows machine with Enterprise Manager is necessary.

In this scenario, create a project source pointing to the Linux Intelligence Server and setup the correct configuration to have projects collect statistics data. Once Statistics logging is setup correctly, add the project source on the Enterprise Manager 9.x Console.

If the Windows machine is shut down for some reason, it would not affect the collection of statistics data on the Intelligence server side which means the statistics tables would still be populated with updated data. The scheduled data load on Strategy Enterprise Manager will not work because the Windows machine is down. After the Windows machine is up and running again, user could perform a manual data load to update the data in the Enterprise Manager tables.
