KB221665: Answering Nested prompt using Edit Links from an ESRI Map does not work in Flash mode in MicroStrategy Web 9.4.1 Hotfix 4

SYMPTOM
As per tech note KB47968, starting Strategy Web 9.4.1 Hotfix 4, the Edit Links function is available on an ESRI map to link to another report or document in Flash view mode only.
However, after configuring an ESRI Map to drill to a target report or document using Edit links, users will not be able to answer nested prompts even when the “Any Other Prompts” option is set to “Answer with same prompt from the source”.
 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE

• Create nested prompts as outlined in tech note “KB10434: How to create N-Level deep nested prompts in Strategy Desktop”.
• Create a report with a mappable attribute, at least one metric, and the nested prompt created in Step 1.
• Create a document based off of the report created in Step 2.
• Create an ESRI map widget and run the document in flash view mode, the map should look similar to the one shown below:
  

• Return to design mode and follow tech note KB47968 to use Edit Links on the mappable attribute which will run the report created in Step 2 when selected.

• Set the top level prompt created as well as the “Any Other Prompts” option to “Answer with same prompt from the source” like shown below: 
  

• Run the document in flash view mode.
• Use the drilling functionality, as per tech note KB47968, run the report created in Step 2.
• Notice the nested prompts are not answered and the user is still prompted to enter values.

 
CAUSE
This is a known issue with Strategy Web 9.4.1. 
 
ACTION
This issue has been addressed with Strategy 10.0. 
 
WORKAROUND
Run the document in Express mode (Presentation Mode) instead of Flash mode, and drill to the report containing the nested prompt structure.
