KB221740: Error message "Your request could not be processed. Please try again." when applying view filter in a freeform SQL report in MicroStrategy Web.

Symptom

In Strategy Web, when a user applies a view filter to a freeform SQL report, following error appears:

"Your request could not be processed. Please try again. If the problem persists, contact the Administrator. Error when answering the prompt. Please review your answer(s)."

 
In DssErrors.log, user can see error message like below:

[Object Server][Error][0x80042329] Invalid element value 'aaa' for attribute 'bbb' (form 'ccc'). Expected value type is numeric.
[Object Server][Error][0x800411A0] Failed to load object from XML.

 

Cause

One of the possible cause for this error is incorrect attribute form data type for the output attribute in freeform SQL report.
 
 

Action

As indicated in DssErrors.log, check attribute "bbb" and it's attribute form "ccc", make sure the attribute form type is correctly set according to actual data type.
