KB221750: Custom Metric formatting for negative values does not display correctly in graphs for MicroStrategy Mobile 9.4.1 iOS Update 1.

SUMMARY:
This Technical Note describes how in Strategy Mobile 9.4.0 Update 1 for iOS7 and iOS8 negative values display incorrectly in graphs when users custom format values. There is a workaround at the bottom of this tech note.
 
SYMPTOM:
Users can choose to use custom formatting to change the display of metric values in a Report Services Document in Strategy Web 9.4.1 HF6 . When a user custom formats a negative metric to display a certain number of place values for a graph, the formatting will not display correctly in Strategy Mobile 9.4.1 iOS Update 1 for iOS7 and iOS8.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Follow these steps to reproduce the issue in a Strategy Tutorial Project:

• Create a report that uses metrics with large negative numbers.
  
• Place the report in a Report Services Document and add a graph.
  
• Custom format all metrics in the grid to use this format:
   #,##0,,;(#,##0,,)
  This will display -200,000,000 as (200.0).
  
• View the dashboard in Strategy Mobile 9.4.1 iOS Update 1 as a grid. As in the image below, the grid displays the correct formatting.
  

• View the dashboard in Strategy Mobile 9.4.1 iOS Update 1 as a graph. The formatting does not display as expected.

 
CAUSE:
This is a known issue with Strategy Mobile 9.4.1 iOS Update 1 with iOS 7 and iOS 8.
 
ACTION:
This issue has been addressed in Strategy Mobile 9.4.1 iOS Update 4. Upgrade to this version to take advantage of the fix.
