KB230360: The default selection of a slice selector is not passed to the target document in MicroStrategy Mobile iOS 9.4.x

Community Admin

• Strategy

When passing selector values across different linked documents in MicroStrategy Mobile 9.4.x, the default selections are not passed if “Apply selections as a filter” is unchecked in the selector’s properties (i.e. the selector is a slice selector). The target selector will always display “(All)” selection instead. However, after acting on the selector, the selection is correctly passed.

SYMPTOM:
When passing selector values across different linked documents in Strategy Mobile 9.4.x, the default selections are not passed if “Apply selections as a filter” is unchecked in the selector’s properties (i.e. the selector is a slice selector). The target selector will always display “(All)” selection instead. However, after acting on the selector, the selection is correctly passed.
The issue does not occur in Strategy Web 9.4.x.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. In Strategy Tutorial project, create a report with “Month” attribute;
  2. Use the report as a dataset for a document, say "Source Document", and place it as a grid on the document;
  3. Create a Slice selector for Month and set, e.g., "Use last" as the current state;
  4. Create a different document, say "Target Document", with the same dataset and the same grid;
  5. In the Target Document, create a Filter selector for Month;
  6. Back in the “Source Document”, create a textbox and set it as a link with "Run this report or document" option. Select the “Target Document” and use “Match selectors by source attribute” for passing the selector values.
  7. Execute the “Source Document”. The selector should display "Dec 2012";
  8. Click on the textbox which the link was defined on. The “Target Document” opens and the selector displays "Dec 2012" as well;
  9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 on an iPad with Strategy Mobile 9.4.x. When the “Target Document” opens, the default selector value (i.e. “Dec 2012”) is not passed.

CAUSE:
This is a known issue with Strategy Mobile iOS 9.4.x.

ACTION:
This is fixed in Strategy Mobile iOS 10.
