SUMMARY:

This document shows an error which appears when running Project Merge in command line with a source project in a Microsoft Access database. One possible cause is that the DSN pointing to Microsoft Access metadata is manually and incorrectly created in the registry editor. Creating one new DSN with MicroStrategy Connectivity Wizard or Windows ODBC Data Source Administrator can resolve this issue.

SYMPTOM:

Suppose a 2-tier project source is pointing to a source metadata which is in a Microsoft Access database. The following Project Merge xml is supposed to merge the source project in this metadata to another project:

The source project connection information is incorrect

CAUSE:

One possible cause is the DSN connecting to the Microsoft Access metadata is manually and incorrectly created from scratch in the registry editor and could not be recognized by MicroStrategy.

ACTION:

Create one new DSN and let it point to the source metadata with MicroStrategy Connectivity Wizard or Windows ODBC Data Source Administrator.

Refer to: "The source project connection information is incorrect." error appears upon execution of a command to create an object package with XML file generated by MicroStrategy Object Manager 10.x  for the same error but a different root cause and resolution confirmed.
