SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Web 9.4.1 Hotfix 3 and up, it is possible to use a custom shape file to display areas in the ESRI map widget. See KB47442: How to create Custom Shapes for cloud-based ESRI Maps in MicroStrategy Web 9.4.1 HF3 - 10.x for more information on using custom shape files with ESRI. However, users may encounter the following error message when attempting to use a custom shape file:


Error #1085

CAUSE:
This error is caused by xml syntax issues, such as one of the end tags in the kml file missing the forward slash that occur when modifying the file, as shown below:

ACTION:
Fix any xml syntax erros in the kml file.
