KB23395: "Data type conversion failed: from DSS type to native type. Database type: [200]" is returned when trying to generate SQL or run a report from an Oracle warehouse in MicroStrategy 9.X and 10.x

SYMPTOM
When attempting to run or generate SQL for a report, the following error is encountered:

Error: Data type conversion failed: from DSS type to native type. 
Database type:SQLEngine got an Exception from DFC: 
Engine Logic: The column RAW_MESSAGE_STRING's datatype 18 with precision 2000 scale -2147483648 is not supported.Error in Process method of Component: SQLEngineServer, Project Tutorial, Job 1, Error Code= -2147212800

This issue is encountered when the report SQL requires to generate temporary tables and use a join with two NVARCHAR2(2000) column.
 
CAUSE
This is a known issue of Strategy 9.X and 10.x 
 
ACTION
The issue has been addressed in Strategy version 10.4. Please upgrade to Strategy version 10.4 to take advantage of this fix. 
 
WORKAROUND
Decrease the precision of the NVARCHAR2 columns to a value lower than 1300 in the Oracle warehouse or use a different column data type.
