SUMMARY
This Technical Note answers the question "Are History List messages that are stored in the database encyrpted" and conveys that it is not necessary for the History List messages to be encrypted because no actual data is stored in the database.
QUESTION
In Strategy 9.x and 10.x are History List Messages that are stored in the database encrypted? Are History List Messages that are stored in the database readable?
ANSWER
In Strategy 9.x and 10.x History List messages stored in the database are not encrypted. Although History List messages stored in the database are not encrypted they also are not readable. This is because only the relationship between the data and its cache can be found in the database. Each History List message has a History Cache associated with it, which is located on the Intelligence Server. This suggests that the "actual" data is located in the cache directory which is specified in the Intelligence Server Configurations. Specifically what can be found in the tables is encoded text which acts as a pointer. This maintains the integrity of data and keeps History List messages secure.
