SUMMARY
This Technical Note answers the question "Is it necessary to bring the I-Server down to copy the Intelligent Cube cache files to the target project’s Intelligent Cube cache directory in Strategy 9.x" and introduces an alternative method.

QUESTION
Does the Intelligence Server have to be brought down to copy the Intelligent Cube cache files to the target project’s Intelligent Cube cache directory in Strategy 9.x?

ANSWER
No, in Strategy version 9.x the Intelligence Server does not need to be brought down to copy the Intelligent Cube cache files to the target project’s Intelligent Cube cache directory.
If one simply unloads the target project, copies the Intelligent Cube cache files into the project’s Intelligent Cube cache directory, and reloads the project it will achieve the same behavior. This is because unloading, unloads everything related to the project from memory, including Intelligent Cube files and writing them to disk; which essentially is the same behavior that one expects when bringing the Intelligence Server down to copy Intelligent Cube cache files.
