When executing a large report or document, a wait page will show until the execution is processed by Strategy Intelligence Server. The wait page is refreshed at a set interval as described in KB4834: Setting the Wait page refresh rate in MicroStrategy Web 10.x .
However, the interval set in the Strategy Web preferences only sets the time between HTTP requests. I.e. as soon as the HTTP response is retrieved by the browser, the wait page setting sets the wait time before submitting the next HTTP request. The HTTP request itself is submitted to Strategy Web, which in turn waits for a certain time for a response from Intelligence Server before it sends the HTTP response to the browser. By default the HTTP request duration can last more than 30 seconds before the HTTP response is retrieved.
This technical note shows required steps how the HTTP request duration for wait page refreshes be reduced.
In order to reduce the HTTP request duration the following modification must be perfomed on the pageConfig.xml file located under WEB-INF > xml:
1. Locate the following entry with maxWait property set to 10000:
<web-bean name="rwb" persist-mode="2" sys-bean="RWBean">
<init-properties>
<property name="graphBeanName" source="const" type="string" value="gb" />
<property name="maxWait" source="const" type="int" value="10000" />
<property name="pollingFrequency" source="const" type="int" value="100" />
<property name="saveToInbox" source="feature" type="boolean" value="auto-add-history-list" />
