Strategy Web, Mobile and Web Services are based on Java technologies to operate and require a valid Java Runtime Environment [JRE] to operate successfully. Several Java Development Kit [JDK] vendors include a JRE in their distributions, however, only some versions and vendors are supported with certain Strategy versions.
Starting Strategy 9.4.1 HF5 the use of a Java Runtime Environment 8 included in a JDK 1.8 is supported with Strategy Web, Mobile and Web Services Universal (JSP) only.
Important Note: Take into consideration that a fully supported Strategy Environment also includes the version of application server used. Some application servers might support the use of JRE 8 but are still not supported with Strategy 9.4.1.
For example:
Tomcat 7 and 8 both support the use of JRE 8, however, Tomcat 8 is not supported with Strategy 9.4.1.
