This article details how to customize the "no data" message for graphs in report services documents in MicroStrategy Web. This applies to Express Mode and Presentation Mode.

In Strategy Developer, there is an option at the project configuration level to change the default message when executing a report that does not return data.
However, the customization does not get applied for a graph in report services document in Express or Presentation Mode. The default message is displayed despite of the customization.
Follow the steps below to customize “no data” message for graph in report services document in Express or Presentation Mode:

  1. Edit the file MessagesBundle_xx.properties in <web server>\WEB-INF\classes\resources. Here, xx corresponds to the language set in Web preferences.
  2. Search for “mstrWeb.2388”
  3. Replace the message with the customized one
  4. Save the change and restart web server
