SUMMARY:
This technical note answers the question of whether it's possible to create non-partitioned Statistics tables in an Oracle database that supports partitioning. Creation of non-partitioned Statistics tables is possible if the non-partition portion of the "statistics_Oracle.sql" script is run manually.

NOTE: The Statistics table creation process uses a different mechanism beginning in Strategy 10.x, and the contents of this tech note do not apply.

QUESTION:
Is it possible to create non-partitioned Statistics tables in an Oracle database that supports partitioning?

ANSWER:
Yes, it is possible to create non-partitioned Statistics tables in an Oracle database that supports paritioning in Strategy 9.x. In the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Strategy", the creation script for Statistics tables can be found. For example, the script for Oracle is called "statistics_Oracle.sql". This script is what the Configuration Wizard uses to create new statistics tables and it contains two sections, one for partitioned tables, and one for non-partitioned.

To create non-partitioned tables, the portion of the script after comment "-- @@NONPARTITION" can be run manually. However, it should be noted that when the statistics needed to be upgraded, since the database supports partitioning, Configuration Wizard create partition tables even though the existing tables are non-partitioned.
