KB237810: Enterprise Manager scheduled data load does not trigger in MicroStrategy Analytics Enterprise 9.x

• Strategy

The following knowledge base article explains one possible cause for Scheduled dataloads not kicking off in MicroStrategy Analytics Enterprise 9.x. A solution is provided.

SUMMARY
This issue has been classified as a machine specific issue by Strategy. Correcting DCOM permissions on the Enterprise Manager Data Loader Service account can fix the issue.

SYMPTOM
In Strategy Enterprise Manager 9.x, scheduled data load does not kick off even when the Strategy Enterprise Manager data load service is running. From the Windows task manager, it is verified that the MAEMETLS.exe process is running. Also, the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\MicroStrategy\Enterprise Manager\Schedule is populated correctly as per the settings chosen on the Strategy Enterprise Manager console. It is also verified that DCOM is enabled on the machine.

However, the following error is seen in the Windows Event log:

ka04W000000OfAfQAK_0EM4400000029Fl.jpeg

The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM
Server application with CLSID
{XXX}
and APPID
Unavailable
to the user XXX SID (XXX) from
address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID
(Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services
Administrative tool.

CAUSE
The error is due to inadequate permissions on the DCOM component for the Enterprise Manager Data loader service account name specified in the service manager.

ACTION
One of the following two methods can be used to fix the issue:

  • Switch to an account that is part of the administrators group
  • Use Component Service to change the permissions for the current user by following the Microsoft Technical Note below:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-us/3313c6c5-383a-4051-a22a-04452f87642a/the-machinedefault-permission-settings-do-not-grant?forum=sharepointsearch
