When attempting to install MicroStrategy Web 10.x on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine,   users may encounter the following messages.

SYMPTOM:
When attempting to install Strategy Web 10.x on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine,   users may encounter the following messages:

Strategy Web Universal requirements:
MISSING Web Server feature: Application Development\ASP.Net

  
CAUSE:
This issue occurs because the "ASP.NET" component is missing from the IIS (Internet Information Services) installation on the Windows Server 2008 R2 machine.
 
ACTION:
In order to resolve this issue, users will need to modify the IIS installation to include the "ASP.NET" component through Control Panel -> Select Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features On or Off task. While in Windows Server 2008 R2, Server Manager Wizard will show up instead of “Windows features On or Off task” dialog box.
When Server Manager pops out, choose “Add Role Services”, then select “Web Server(IIS) Support” Role service and check “ASP”/ “ASP.NET” component, as below picture shown:
