In MicroStrategy 10 running on Linux Red hat 7.0, the graphical version of MicroStrategy System Manager and administrator tools such as the DB Query Tool do not work correctly.

SYMPTOM
In Strategy 10 running on Linux Red hat 7.0, the graphical version of Strategy System Manager and administrator tools such as the DB Query Tool do not work correctly. For example, the System Manager exhibits the following issues:

  1. The Tools menu cannot be expanded when the System Manager window is maximized.
  2. Right-Click menu does not work when the System Manager window is maximized.
  3. Icon of System Manager on taskbar of Red hat 7.0 shows incorrect string as shown below.

CAUSE
The issue occurs due to the System Manager and other Strategy tools being java-based products and they are built with the Oracle JDK 7 which is not well supported by Red Hat Linux 7.0.
 
WORKAROUND
For issues #1 and #2, un-maximizing the System Manager window will resolve these issues..
 
The Strategy Internal Reference Numbers for the issues discussed in this technical note are 973514, 973518, 973502 and 973520.
