An exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" is triggered when working with the Configuration Wizard GUI on Linux RedHat Linux 7.0

SYMPTOM
When using the Strategy Configuration Wizard in Strategy 10 to configure the Intelligence Server, users may notice that on the Server Configuration: Settings page, the "Projects to load at startup" list is empty as shown below:

ka04W000000OenvQAC_0EM4400000029F0.jpeg

Clicking the "Next" button from here is unresponsive and the following exception will be thrown in the terminal window:

Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" sun.awt.X11.XException: Cannot write XdndAware property
	at sun.awt.X11.XDnDDropTargetProtocol.registerDropTarget(Unknown Source)
	at sun.awt.X11.XDropTargetRegistry.registerDropSite(Unknown Source)
	at sun.awt.X11.XWindowPeer.addDropTarget(Unknown Source)
	at sun.awt.X11.XComponentPeer.addDropTarget(Unknown Source)
	…

This same exception can also be thrown in these additional cases with Configuration:

  1. At the end of "Create Enterprise Manager Project", a page shows that the project is successfully created. Clicking "return" will cause the exception to be thrown.
  2. At the end of "Create Statistics & Enterprise Manager Repository", a page shows that the creation is successfully done. Clicking "return" will cause the exception to be thrown.

In the two above cases, functionality is not affected but users will have to terminate the Configuration Wizard process in order to exit successfully.

CAUSE
The issue is caused by compatibility issues with JDK 7 and RedHat Linux 7.

WORKAROUND
As a workaround, the configuration can be done using either console or silent mode:

Console:
./mstrcfgwiz-editor

Silent:
./mstrcfgwiz-editor -response <response file>

ACTION
Upgrade to MicroStratevy version 10.1 or later to get this fix.
The internal Strategy case number for this is DE10993.
